Including People with Disabilities in the Voting Process

Everyone who is of voting age is strongly encouraged to exercise their constitutional right to vote. This right is one of the cornerstones of our American democracy.

Local elections are happening in August and November and one of the issues that Pierce County GRO is addressing is inclusion of all eligible voters in the election process, including those with disabilities. Unfortunately, those with disabilities are often left out of the voting process. Therefore, Pierce County GRO wants you to know that there are resources available from the Wisconsin Disability Vote Coalition which is a non-partisan group that is collaborating with other disability advocacy organizations to assist those with disabilities who want to vote. Here is a list of upcoming events and some resources provided by the group that has adopted the catch phrase ā€œRev Up.ā€

REV UP for National Disability Voter Registration Week:

During the week of July 13-17th you can join REV UP in empowering others with disabilities to get actively involved in the voting process. Phone banks, social media and other means of communicating messages can be powerful tools to encourage other persons with disabilities to vote. You can call the Hot Line at 844-347-8683 or email at info@disabilityvote.org.
