Deep Canvassing Training Aug 2026
Powerful forces are working to convince us that our neighbors are our enemies. Our answer is to show up at their doors and prove otherwise.
This summer, GROWW is going across western Wisconsin to have real, meaningful conversations with our neighbors about healthcare – conversations that research shows can shift how people see the world and how they vote.
At this training, you will learn the skills of deep canvassing, craft a personal story to share at the door, practice with others, and then put your new skills to work in real conversations.
This is part of a disciplined, community-rooted strategy to have thousands conversations in one of the most competitive electoral battlegrounds in the country.
How the Training Works
Step 1: Story Workshop (online, 2 hours) Before the in-person training, everyone attends a 2-hour Zoom session called the Story Workshop. This is where you’ll reflect on your own experiences with healthcare and begin crafting a personal story you can share while canvassing.
Choose one session (they are identical – select below):
- Thursday Aug 6 | 6:00–8:00pm | Zoom
- Friday Aug 10 | 12:00–2:00pm | Zoom
Step 2: Full-Day Canvasser Training (in-person, one day) On Saturday you’ll join us in person for a full day of skills training: instruction, roleplay, small group practice, and live canvassing. This is where you become a deep canvasser. Lunch will be provided.
- Saturday Aug 8th in Chippewa Falls 9:00am- 5:00pm
When you register, you will choose which Story Workshop you will attend (Thursday evening or Friday daytime)
