On Independence day, we ended our summer fundraising drive during which 108 people donated $23,092 to fuel the power we are building right here in our communities.

Together we all made this happen. Together, we are powerful. Together, we have the resources we need. 

On Independence day, we celebrate freedom, we celebrate the democracy that we are perfecting together. What strikes me though, is that through our work at GROWW and through the fundraising drive, we are all celebrating our interdependence. We need each other. 

Focusing on individualism and independence prevents us from having the things we need. We need community, we need people locking arms and standing together in solidarity for change. Each month you see and read in our newsletter how our campaigns are doing just that.

We know we need each other to build power to create a different structure; a structure that works for us; a structure that is responsive to our needs because we build it that way. 

We are forging a new path for ourselves and none of us can do it alone. We are interdependent.
