Our WI FReedoms and Future are on the Ballot.

On Nov 5th, we have so much to celebrate in WI: Fair Maps, a strong democracy, and the chance for all of us to make our voices be heard and be counted.

But this November, the Constitutional Amendment on our ballot could block ordinary WI voters from being heard at the polls.

Together, we’re standing up for our freedoms in WI.

Some corrupt politicians and their billionaire backers would rather not answer to Wisconsin Voters. They’ve put this confusing and misleading Constitutional Amendment on our ballot hoping to block thousands of Wisconsin citizens from going to the polls in order to cement their control and steal our freedom to vote.

But we know better.

We’re coming together from the Mississippi to Milwaukee to reject their political games and vote NO. By showing up as voters in record numbers, we’ll protect our freedoms and our futures, delivering a Wisconsin where everyone’s heard and all of us can have a good life – with the education, healthcare, housing, and jobs every family needs. No exceptions.

❌ The question?

Here’s the language that will appear on your ballot:

“Eligibility to vote. Shall section 1 of article III of the constitution, which deals with suffrage, be amended to provide that only a United States citizen age 18 or older who resides in an election district may vote in an election for national, state, or local office or at a statewide or local referendum?”

But, wait a second. That sounds like it’s already the law… isn’t it?

YES, you’re right. We have laws on the books ensuring our safe and secure elections in Wisconsin! So, let’s get into what’s going on here.

Here’s what it means, and why we’re voting NO:

The proposed change is one, seemingly simple work switch: from “every United States citizen to “only a United States citizen.”

1. It’s an attack our freedom to vote.

  • Changing  the language from “every” citizen to “only” citizens is a way for lawmakers to further restrict our freedom to vote. Wisconsin already has safe and secure elections and safeguards in place to ensure only eligible voters are voting. This amendment uses fear as a tactic to further divide us.
  • No matter where we were born or what language we speak, all eligible Wisconsin voters are afforded the right to cast a ballot and make their voice heard. This anti-voter amendment would change the language of our state’s constitution. It could open the door to discriminatory practices, disenfranchising hundreds of thousands of eligible voters.

2. The rigged state legislature isn’t doing its job.

  • This is another example of why we’re so glad we have fair maps from here on out. The gerrymandered legislature is trying to pick their voters. It’s a last minute power-grab before voters chose a new legislature using the new fair maps this November.
  • Wisconsinites have had five confusing constitutional amendments on the ballot this year. We’ve had enough of these wide-sweeping, harmful amendments. Our legislators need to do their job – work with the governor to pass policies.

3. Wisconsin is stronger when we stand together.

  • This constitutional amendment aims to divide us and pit us against our neighbors. Wisconsinites know we are better when we stand together. Let’s say no to the lies and vote this amendment down.
